How to diagnose gallstones
The suspicion and diagnosis of gallstones are often interpreted on the complaints of the patient and his history, e.g. intolerance of fatty meals, any previous biliary colic. During the physical examination, the persons concerned with a gallstone are often have gallbladder pain in the right upper abdomen, when the doctor scans patient's abdomen (called pressure pain). It is very fast and safe, that a gallstone can be discovered by abdominal ultrasound. So that the doctor can detect gallstones from three mm in size and make the diagnosis. Meanwhile, the gallbladder should be examined for whether the gallbladder is already enlarged by gall stones or its wall becomes thickened, rough. In addition, by the ultrasound examination, the doctor can exclude gallbladder cancer which may be also responsible for the complaints.
